Safety is of course priority for the Club. In 2017 the Club imported two RIB’s from China to replace the Club’s aging fleet of rescue boats. These boats ensure safe sailing under even the most arduous conditions. Our safety boats are driven by volunteers within the club.
All sailors and power boats crews are advised that they will not pass in front of any commercial vessels within 500m of the bow. That distance is equal to the distance from the club Bridge to the North Arm entrance wharf.
All marks are laid in a safe place for shipping and river traffic. The Bridge and Safety Boat Personnel all keep a close watch on the sailors and the river traffic.
The area between the wharf, beach and channel marker shown below is considered to be an obstruction area and is to be avoided while racing. This area can become extreamly shallow during low-tide and is inaccessible to our safety boats during this period. Please avoid as we cannot reach you if you become stuck here.
